Week 4 : Slowing Down
A majority of this week was spent working on the Proposal Background (which I will be posting later today) and design of the watering bot. Sadly no closet for me to clean this week, a shame really.
I started the week off by collaborating on the same auto watering planter as last week with a fellow STEM scholar, though we were more focused on designing the idea. So we started back at the core of what makes it tick, an Arduino UNO. For this project we are using one which is slightly smaller in size but has similar functionality. This decision was made on the basis that we do not want a horribly bulky device, and would prefer it to accommodate to any living area. It is impossible to create a final product right of the bat, but making any adjustments is better for finding the most efficient design.
So we looked back at not only what we needed to buy for the project, but every single item that makes it up. While we were doing this we realized that certain components will find themselves to be a bit more cumbersome or too small to accommodate preferred water levels. From this we designed a watering ring that will sit on the brim of any desired pot. Because it is round, it will be able to water all sides of the plant at once. It will also be secured by a sleeve connected to the bot.
